When 200 shoppers arrive at 9am, capacity math and check-in discipline are the difference between a sale people praise and one people complain about.
Set an honest max
What's your actual inside capacity? For a 1,200sqft home, 20–25 is safe. For big open-floor homes, 40–50. Set it as a number on a tool, not a feeling.
The clipboard doesn't count or advertise
- Nobody can see how many people are inside.
- Nothing stops the queue from moving faster than people leave.
- No way to say, to a waiting crowd, how long until they enter.
What the digital version looks like
- Staff sees Inside X / capacity, Waiting Y, and No-shows Z on one screen.
- Advancing is one tap: the next N shoppers in line are marked checked-in.
- Shoppers see their live position and an estimated entry time, not just a number.
- Abandoned confirmed shoppers are auto-released after the grace window, so the queue doesn't stall behind a phantom.
Emergency handling
- Miscellaneous mid-sale counts: just pause for a few minutes and let the house breathe.
- For health reasons, staff can pre-check a customer out of queue without penalty (families with strollers, mobility needs, etc.).
The honest question
If your staff spends the first hour mediating the line instead of selling, a $39 month subscription (a la EstateEntry) pays for itself before the first register receipt prints.
